Before we get into our usual newsletter shenanigans, we feel the need to share some extra love due to the recent tragedy in Las Vegas. As many of you know, we teach Country 2-step, & Phil especially has been involved in the country dance scene for over 35 years. So many of our students & friends were at the country music concert. One of our students was wounded (choosing to keep the name confidential); the surgery went well & hopefully things will be improving. Many others that were there are deeply affected in different ways. Sending love & prayers to all in need. For LV people & families, & for so many others going through difficult times all over this world. We are so grateful to have a beautiful, caring, & supportive dance community. This "chosen" family is such a blessing; please come out to be together, in the uplifting energy, full of healing. And of course dancing fun. And reach out to us if we can help.

STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE... VIDEO 1!
Here is a glimpse of Phil & Mindia (that would be us) doing a lead & follow (improvised) West Coast Swing Dance. We were asked to dance this WCS exhibition at a Latin event. This was in 2014 at the Hacienda Hotel, where we taught for years. Thanks to Terry Cricksman for taking & sharing the fun video! Hey Flashmobbers... notice the song that we chose to dance to Lol!

First a big thank you to everyone for making my bday party last month so great. The Flashmob performance was fabulous. I was able to evacuate my dad & brother from the hurricane in Florida, so they were here to celebrate with us. Divine timing does it again. So grateful for so many things. (Sorry we did not get a newsletter out last month... things have been a little busy.)
Join us for our fun, monthly event TODAY! Usually 150 to 220ish (Lol!) dancers come out to share their passion. COUNTRY 2-STEP, NIGHTCLUB 2-STEP, & WEST COAST SWING WORKSHOPS, followed by SOCIAL DANCING! Private lessons may be available. See link above (1st Saturday Monthly Event) for details. Ages 18 & up.

ONE OUT OF THREE?
Just another "in the moment" update about the newsletter writing process: Phil, who was sitting to my left initially, has moved away & onto the floor to rest his eyes. And our CEO, who is to the left of where Phil had been sitting, is in his cat bed snoozing (& lightly snoring)! Hopefully you all will find this newsletter more interesting than my company Phil & Jasper Cat did Lol! I'm not at all offended; I'm having a ball as usual. This is truly one of my favorite things to do. Writing has been a passion of mine for many, many years. (Duh!)
2017 INTERNATIONAL WEST COAST SWING FLASHMOB
Such a great experience this summer teaching the Flashmob routine to our students. They worked hard, & made us so proud to witness there achievements. We chose a wonderful venue downtown for the big day.
HERE WE GO... THE OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL FLASHMOB WEST COAST SWING VIDEO, PERFORMED & FILMED AT GRAND PARK IN LOS ANGELES ON SEPTEMBER 2nd, 2017! Enjoy. Bravo to everyone. Thanks so much to Steve Stingley & assistant Marty Heger for videotaping. We had 74 dancers in 101 degree heat WOW! And thanks to so many of you who made generous donations to help pay for the epic venue. So much love & support.
The Flashmobbers also performed at our Monthly Event at SBDC in Lomita on September 9th, as well as at our Thursday Dance at Westchester Elks in Playa Del Rey on September 21st. Great memories. WHAT A PERFECT TIME TO PLUG OUR 5th ANNUAL HALLOWEEN DANCE PARTY on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26th! Costumes encouraged. Phil & I are scheming. Usual schedule for classes & dancing, but more treats of course.

Here is where we get to pick on our readers, instead of each other! One night on a Wednesday in Whittier, during Flashmob practice at Phil's class: Phil had a note that I had given him, with a list of announcements for class. He read the list, & told the students that I would have another list for him when he got home after work. (Don't they know anything about Virgos?) He added that I was constantly giving him lists to take care of. One student asked if I would have another list for them too! Phil told me the story when he got home, but said that he could not remember who made the comment (how convenient). NEWSFLASH: This just in. Phil said that it was a male. So I'm calling out all the guys in the Flashmob class; somebody needs to confess.

ONGOING STUFF!
"LOVE FOREVER" MUSIC VIDEO RELEASED!
A while back, a sweet couple (former students), David & Brittany Farkas, came to our Thursday venue at Westchester Elks (Playa Del Rey) to film a music video for a song from their new album! We were so thrilled to be a part of this music video project with our dance family! David & Brittany are a lovely couple; they are talented musicians as well. Thank you so much for this opportunity. Please enjoy the music video... fun-loving with a surprise is at the very end! It was a treat to get to dance to their beautiful song "Love Forever,", & share all the joy with everyone.
PRIVATE LESSONS!
Private lessons may be available with Phil or myself. You will have fun, & learn stuff too! Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays. Various venues. Let us know if interested. Privates may also be split between 2 to 4 people (maybe more). Ask for the $5 discount per DVD when you schedule.

We have two DVDs available, Beginner & Intermediate WCS. You can purchase them with a credit card in person (cash or check is fine also), or through our web store! More info about payment & options under Highlights.
PUNCH CARDS
We have punch cards available for purchase: ten classes for $100 w/ the eleventh class FREE! Punch cards do not expire. We do take credit cards in person or through our web-store.
Highlights... Takin' Care of Business
*DANCE DVD'S!Payment & Options: Dance DVSs are $35 each (plus tax if credit card payment). Credit card payments are available in person, (or cash or check in person is fine also), or through our web store. If order your DVDs through our website, you have the option to click the "pick up at class" option (to avoid shipping charges), or you can have them shipped.

* All of our classes are drop-in (some do run in a series). No partner needed for any of our classes. No prior dance experience needed for Beginner classes. Two left feet are welcomed; we will introduce you to your right foot! (Phil wanted credit for that last comment.)
* Once you have moved up from our Beginner level classes to Intermediate and then later Advanced, you are welcome to continue taking our Beginner classes for FREE! We want to encourage you to continue working on your basics; that is most important to develop a strong foundation. The best dancers usually are the ones who have worked on their basics for years. When you keep taking Beginner classes, you are also helping the new students to progress faster, since they get to rotate & dance with more experienced dancers.
