NEW STUFF!
It has been a crazy month or two, & we have more changes coming! New venues, new schedules, new pricing etc... please be patient with our growing pains. LAST MINUTE NEW VENUE CHANGE STARTING THIS TUESDAY (JULY 21st) FOR MINDIA'S CLASSES
POPS DANCE STUDIO (Puttin' On Productions) w/AC!

The studio is just a few minutes south of the Hacienda on Sepulveda, just south of Marine Street, behind Rubios Restaurant. There is a big, FREE parking lot in front of the studio.
Please come out & support, & spread the word. Unfortunately the El Segundo Woman's Club is remodeling, & decided to paint this week; they gave me minimal notice. So sorry about this; there was nothing I could do, except find a better venue! We were lucky that POPS had something available; we used the space for our dance team for a period of time in the past. It is a nice studio w/ AIR CONDITIONING & a good parking lot in front. A definite upgrade! Classes will not be returning to the El Segundo Woman's Club; we have had too many issues w/ management there. See details below about Tuesday schedule updates & summer specials etc.
HACIENDA CLOSING... THIS THURSDAY (JULY 23rd) IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO DANCE!
It is our final West Coast Swing night of classes & dancing at the famous Hacienda.
FREE PARKING AT HACIENDA: As long as the gate is open, you can park for free in the Hacienda Lot, entrance on Mariposa Street.
It will certainly be the end of an amazing era. And when one door closes, another door opens...

Time out for a few stories from DAY 1 of our trip...
So we went on a five day road trip, about 1500 miles, & with all of this transition going on, we could have used five weeks off haha! We headed to Kanab, Utah to start our adventure. After leaving California, we drove by the famous Vegas Strip in Nevada. (No, we didn't make a detour haha!) Phil pointed out dirt devils, but quickly corrected himself, and said, "Oh crap. A dirt devil is a vacuum cleaner. Those are dust devils!" Driving through Arizona, we saw many buffalo, cows, sheep, & horses, as well as some cool-shaped red rock formations. As we came into the city Of Hurricane, Utah, the weather started to fit the name of the town. We drove through a thunderstorm, & saw some gigantic lightning bolts. Then several rainbows appeared, & led to an enlightening conversation.
Question: Doesn't everybody know that all rainbows have 7 colors, in a specific order? Well Phil hadn't a clue. I told him about ROYGBIP! Every rainbow has these seven colors in this particular order, every single time: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, & purple! I couldn't believe that Phil had never heard of this. He said, "I don't think many guys know about the rainbow thing." Really? That's like not knowing that there are 7 levels in the astral plane, 7 dwarfs in Snow White, or 7 wonders in the world. Is the spiritual world of 7's a secret? Phil responded, "Is it something similar to the 7 chakra thing?" He didn't know a chakra existed before I came along. (So as I was writing this just now, Phil was busy gooogle-ing
rainbows. He wants me to confess that I was wrong; the acronym for rainbows is ROYGBIV. The V at the end is for violet; I thought it was a P for purple. It was a very long time ago that I learned about this; so one letter off is not too shabby!) Anyways, the rain did cool down temps & we had amazing weather the rest of our trip. Because of the rain, we had a sweet surprise on DAY 2 of our trip. Stay tuned for our next newsletter. Read on below for more schedule updates.

Memories in Whittier (one night only)! Celebrating our 4 year anniversary wow!
Just for the month of August, we will have our Workshop & Dance at Memories, a lovely venue in Old Town Whittier. Please come support through our transitions; we especially need your help to keep things going. There will be price changes & cover charges upcoming, to help pay for our costs for space rentals. *Starting Tuesday, August 4th, class times will be switched! So Beginner West Coast Swing class will be at 6:30 pm & Intermediate WCS will be at 7:30 pm. Cost is $10 drop-in.
*Starting Tuesday, August 4th, a new Beginner West Coast Swing 8 week series! Discount price for the series; $60 if paid by August 4th.
Drop-ins will still be welcome any time; $10 per class.

Here is where we get to pick on our readers (instead of each other)!
Phil is calling out Jo, one of the followers at Memories. Recently in Phil's Advanced WCS class on Tuesday at Memories, he taught a run around pattern. He gave his followers a cool styling variation, & he told them that I had done the styling when we were practicing earlier. He told them that they should really give me credit. (Phil & I teach at different venues on Tuesdays.) So Jo asked Phil if that meant that they should pay me for the class! Great idea; where is my money!

GUEST INSTRUCTORS CHRISTIAN COUNTRY ROUND-UP DANCE: ALL ARE WELCOME! FREE FOR FIRST TIMERS! You can usually find us at the Clubhouse in Placentia (formerly the Atomic) on the 3rd Saturday of each month at the CCR Dance. We teach two Intermediate classes TBA at 6:45 pm, & WEST COAST SWING at 7:25 pm. (Must know your basics; no partner needed). There is usually a theme & treats! (There are also Beginner classes.) Open Dancing is a mix of music. FIRST TIMERS FREE (except on a few special occasions). We are both available for private lessons there, but with limited space & time slots. Please schedule in advance.

COST: $20, or $15 for SoCal Christian Dance Club Members. Membership is only $20 for the entire year.
* All of our classes are drop-in (some do run in a series). No partner needed for any of our classes. No prior dance experience needed for Beginner classes. Two left feet are welcomed; we will introduce you to your right foot! (Phil wanted credit for that last comment.)
* Once you have moved up from our Beginner level classes to Intermediate and then later Advanced, you are welcome to continue taking our Beginner classes for FREE! We want to encourage you to continue working on your basics; that is most important to develop a strong foundation. The best dancers usually are the ones who have worked on their basics for years. When you keep taking Beginner classes, you are also helping the new students to progress faster, since they get to rotate & dance with more experienced dancers.
